It turned out 72" long, 14" wide. I am so pleased with how it turned out. And I love the Metro Living rings as the binding. here are a couple close-up shots so you can see the binding and quilting better.
I decided to just do a random strip backing. Each fabric is showcased at least once, with a few duplicates. It's a little crooked, but it's hard to tell from a distance ::wink::
Action shots guest starring my mom's dining room table (since mine looks like a fabric store explosion at the moment!)
So to celebrate my first sizable finish. I'm having a little giveaway. I grabbed my scraps and made a cute herringbone hot pad complete with insulbrite batting so it's safe to use with hot things; it's 10x10" a great size for Dutch Ovens :)
I backed it with the turquoise bouquet print and it's bound in the same Metro Living rings. The winner will get the hot pad, and a little surprise.

Liz, it turned out beautifully! Nice job on picking that binding too it is very cute!
ReplyDeleteYour table runner is beautiful! And that hot pad is pretty adorable as well :)
ReplyDeleteOh, what a beautiful table runner! I love all the colors and that it can be reversible. I have still yet to make a table runner and I totally NEED to! You must share the vomit fabric table! LOL Thanks for the giveaway! The herringbone is perfect!
ReplyDeleteYour table runner is gorgeous! I love the little hot pad too. The colors are just wonderful and HAPPY. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteThe table runner is lovely! Very sweet little giveaway too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute hot pad! It's hard to buy particularly cute ones, isn't it? Any nice ones I have are handmade.
ReplyDeleteGreat mix of fabrics - I like both projects!
ReplyDeletelove the table runner, and love the hot pad too! and hey- no judgment from me about the dining room table looking like a fabric store explosion, haha!

I love this table runner! The bright prints on the white with the red binding is spectacular! Oh, and our table is such a mess with fabric and serger and notions that we eat in the kitchen LOL I think that's common with quilters ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous makes! I just can't bear to cut up my FMF! The binding is inspired! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe table runner looks fabulous! A great way to show off FMF - the prints stand out beautifully with the white.
ReplyDeleteAwesome first finish! Love how it turned out:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Caroline! And congrats on winning my little giveaway. I hope you enjoy your package :)
DeleteYour table runner is lovely, now all you need is the uber-tidy table to go with it :)
ReplyDeletehaha, never going to happen... that's why I had to model it on my mom's table :p
DeleteCongratulations, Liz!! It looks fabulous. I love me some FMF. I need to do a table runner for my kid's room--would you mind sharing what you used for batting? Did you just use regular warm n' natural style stuff, or did you choose like a low-loft fusible fleece?
ReplyDeleteI just used some low loft polyester batting that I had purchased at Joann's when I first started quilting (and I didn't know anything about natural v. poly batting!)
